After returning from a month in Indiana, a friend suggested that we were probably glad to get back to NYC and our local farmers market here. He seemed unaware that Indiana’s farmers markets are actually great. The one I used to go to in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis is better than the ones in New York, all things considered.
The idea that because New York is the best city, everything in it must be the best is an implicit, unexamined assumption of many people who live here.
